Take responsibility for interpreting the world around you

2012It is really important that you make use of the resources around you when you are looking for inspiration with your writing. You must stay observant at all times and try to evaluate the things that are happening around you – what people are saying, what the mood is like, how all these things might be interpreted.
It is often the case that the world provides plenty of subject matter for you to write on even when everything around you is ostensibly mundane and uninteresting. It is up to you as a writer to interpret such situations in order to say something meaningful, funny or thoughtful.
